Listed below is the detail of the Security Apprenticeship within the private security industry:

• Apprenticeship in Providing Security Services – currently being offered by MPQ Training – Government Funding Available. This Funding varies by region e.g. Olympic Boroughs receive higher funding.

The Security Apprenticeship includes the following qualifications and responsibilities:

• SIA Security Guarding qualification
• Functional Skills including Maths, English and ICT
  Or
  Key Skills including Application of Number, Communications, and Information Technology
• Providing Security Services NVQ Level 2
• Employer Rights and Responsibilities (part of the Induction Training)

This qualification is ongoing but will be subject to amendments in the near future – more information will be provided as it becomes available from Skills for Security.

Learners who already hold a technical certificate in Security Guarding can be exempted from Knowledge based element as Accredited Prior Learning so long as the qualification they hold is listed in the Framework below.

Please note: The Door Supervision qualifications cannot be accepted and therefore those candidate with Door Supervision Qualification are not able to migrate to a Security Apprenticeship.
